          @Mulldrifter256 A Chef is the person who manages the kitchen and depending on the job, comes up with new recipes(Chefs in chain places don't get to do this). A Cook just cooks food off or preps it. Some kitchens make these roles nearly exclusive(line cook vs prep cook).

        @Mulldrifter256 There are baker version of these jobs. Pastry Cook Vs Pastry Chef, for example. The pastry cook just executes the recipes where the Chef manages personal more in additional to all that other stuff.

      @Mulldrifter256 Last but not least, a Baker or a Chef is just really doing similar job but one is doing bread or deserts and the other is doing dinner style foods.

    @Mulldrifter256 Oh and I was a baker, but am currently a chef, the transition was pretty smooth. Tbh the hardest part was managing the people. If you can read a recipe sheet you can do either job, and if you actually go to school you take classes in both despite your major being chef or baker
