    1. Comparing Star Wars to these is so funny because in comparison it’s not political at all. It’s insanely vapid with like, 2 messages. It’s all superficial action, with a bad vs good storyline, and some stuff general stuff about fascism. (Original trilogy, not anything else) @xelarande/1729074798330839325

Vs Who and Trek which are some of the most aggressively political and philosophical (sci-fi) shows of their time, while also being insanely progressive. I actually think star was contributed to lack of media literacy because of how vapid it is lol

In John Pertwees era(1970) we get Sarah Jane, an incredibly proactive companion who explains to the doctor what womens liberation is. The fourth doctor(also 70s) refuses to kill the Daleks as they’re being invented because of the ethical concerns / he’d be as bad as them.

The 9th doctor also actively chooses not to kill all the Daleks, lest he be as bad as them. We also meet captain Jack in series 1, who comes from a future where being attracted to a specific gender or species makes no sense, and is actively kissing men and women on screen in 05.

The doctor is also very anti corporation, and the 12th actively said the measure of a good society is how you treat the less fortunate.

Star Trek, my favorite example is data. Who i actively identify with as someone who’s autistic. He’s not meant to be a 1 to 1 allegory for anything as far as I can tell, but it’s easy to see myself in him.

Every single episode of Star Trek is some kind of moral quandary, idk if I need to even explain it. That’s the premise of the show. But just know that humans live in a communist society where there’s no money lol.
