@misterhappybruv They're not TECHNICALLY independent, they are nessecarily independent. There's many reasons a president would be impeached that wouldn't warrant criminal charges, and there's situations where a crime could come out post-office that wouldn't need impeachment to try.Permalink On twitter.com

@misterhappybruv If a sitting president sexually assaults a person while in office, they could be impeached for that and convicted, but then never tried in court because there's not enough evidence for criminal prosecution. Burden for Impeachment isn't the same as criminal.On twitter.com

@misterhappybruv It is not the same court, not the same trial, not the same process. None of it is the same. The evidence of the criminal stuff would be completely separate. The president may even have the capacity to pardon themselves, but no one can pardon impeachment.Permalink On twitter.com
