Modern VGC metas don't have enough time in the oven to know how good or bad they are tbh. A meta doesn't get solved in 6 months. It's one of the things I appreciate most about fan formats these days. This doesn't JUST apply to Smogon btw, there's oldgen vgc metas too that get play, and those are much more interesting cuz of the amount of analysis that can be put into them, but they're a fan format now, free from nintendos clutches.On twitter.com

To be the arbitrary format changing thing is just a way to hook people who lose interest in the game after a few weeks. It's the same as perpetual update games like league, who puts out balance patches every few weeks to hope changes draw players back.Permalink On twitter.com
